Dr Seuss' children's story always possessed a musical quality. This movie adaptation throws everything into the pot to appeal to most tastes. What's interesting about the approach is having more typically adult-oriented artistes mixing in for the kiddies. Barenaked Ladies get a little Sesame Street wholesomeness going ("Green Christmas" with Jim Carrey), Smash Mouth offer an infectious rhythmically propelled warning about being good for Santa ("Better Do it Right") and The Eels enjoy a scratchy whine about commercialism ("Christmas is Going to the Dogs").
