Christmas and Crosby are synonymous but this album is different. It was originally released on vinyl by Daybreak Records under the title "A Time To Be Jolly" in 1971, which is when I bought it! It has been a part of my Christmas celebrations ever since and never disappoints. This Christmas album doesn't have the usual Crosby numbers that seem to be on a thousand other discs. These are fresh, full of traditional festive feeling and are delivered in mature Crosby style with short intro pieces by Jack Halloran and the Voices of Christmas. The songs are in a different order on this CD and the sleeve art is uninspiring but it is still a great Christmas album.

This album captures the essence of Christmas in the unique style of Take6. I can not fault it. From the familiar classics to the track that gave its name to the album. The one that I listen to over and over is Twas Da Night. Surely a hit for the kids and great fun for all. I had it on cassette years ago when it was first released then it was pilfered by a fellow enthusiast. I am amazed it was not a best seller and feel it should be re-released. The style and sentiments are still relevant today than ever. Please enjoy and spread the word, who knows, it could be next Christmas' number 1! He Is Christmas

I was sold this CD by mistake in the Mormon music shop in Salt Lake City in 1994. By the time I played it we were on the other side of the USA so I kept it. I have never had cause to regret it and play it every Christmas. It is perfect stuff for a Christmas or New Year party, particularly if you do not object to the "rocking up" of traditional carols. Music to lift the spirits on dark winter days, even in Spain, where I live now.

Kenny G currently owns the smooth-jazz soprano sax with his popular, mainstream arrangements and compositions. And on his first holiday album, despite occasionally predictable charts and phrasing, the saxman delivers a thoughtful and moving collection of songs, spirituals, and hymns, with his trademark sound wedded to several ensemble and orchestral arrangements. The G-man stretches out in "Sleigh Ride" and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town", but these are balanced by more serious pieces such as the lovely, original "Eternal Light ( A Chanukah Song)" and "Ave Maria". There's a genuine humbleness and inspired reverence in the playing here--as in, Kenny G really means it, man....
Simply breathtaking, 2000-04-25
This cd is amazing - I bought it from my husband and I only wish I had known I could have got it so simply from Amazon - I trailed around town for four hours under severe stress with two children under the age of 3!. However, my husband has since lost his gift as I have claimed it and listend to it every night. The music is so haunting, especially Eternal Light and the final track of Auld Lang Syne where some of the accompanying historical moments brought tears to my eyes.In a word - BUY!
