This is a stealth classic. If you loved "When My Heart..." You will ultimately come to adore this, but not straight away. This is a far more mature work and the arrangements are challenging to the listener (let alone the trumpets - sheesh! talk about supersonic). What's not to love about Frosty? That'll probably make you smile first time. But by the time you get to the ground-shifting be bop offering of "I Wonder As I Wander", you may be questioning your choice, but stick with it. Once you see where he's coming from you'll be playing this one into February and getting some really weird looks. Mr Connick flits from genre to genre tempting your taste buds with different flavours. I especially dig "Silver Bells": reminiscent of Bernstein and his New Orleans "Santa Claus is Coming To Town"; who'd have thought a field so regularly tilled could still turn up new gems? I'm still coming to terms with "I Come With Love", but that's part of the joy - I've still got some work to do next Christmas:-)

This album is made for late night listening. Imagine, the hour is late, the fire glowing low and the wine bottle almost empty. If you are looking for that ultimate festive smooch towards the mistletoe, then it must be Hamilton's version of White Christmas, and when you return to the couch, the final track, and original title track, will be the perfect finishing touch.

Another fine piece of work from a group who have seen others come and go.
A Night Before Christmas is a pleasant album to listen to I would recommend this to anyone looking for christmas music and its one for the fans (like myself) there are also over 20 other albums by this execellent band to listen to. 7 out of 10 for this effort.

I already have an extensive collection of pop,jazz and blues music, to play at christmas when it comes around. So to find new, good stuff, is becoming more of a challange.A Jazz & Blues Christmas doesn't disappoint. It has several famililar artists, such as B.B King, and Ray Charles, but half a dozen new to me, Artists singing and playing christmas standards, either with a jazz/ blues slant, or in a New Orleans funky kind of way.A real joy to liven up any christmas, I'm still playing it !
