Muse
It's not really about the music anymore, is it. It's about the breadth and height of everything Muse do. It's about leaving a jet-stream in the sky. Any tune with a trajectory lower than the cosmos is presumably discarded, with arrangements generally sounding as expensive as battleships (intergalactic battleships, that is). Of course the music is not exactly incidental either; Muse's full-on fifth album The Resistance is packed hard with virtuoso musicianship, rigorous instrumental freak-outs and harmonies beamed between dimensions. It's simply what they do now, no matter how ridiculous it may seem. Long gone are the days of the feisty yet formal English post-grunge band ...
muse at their finest, 2010-08-23 Fantastic album demonstrating Muse at their very best. Gives an immediate up beat, feel good factor, absolutely amazing.

Thea does it again & again., 2010-09-01 Another great collection of songs from evergreen songstress Thea Gilmore.
Catch her live, she will never disappoint, her Christmas 2009 performance of
Strange Communion at Norwich Art Centre was fabulous. Looking forward to her
next tour with Murphy's Heart.
P.S. Nice presentation box & cards as well.

The Pretty Reckless
Straight To The Front Of The Queue, 2010-09-01 Now here's a strong debut to light up the night sky!
'Gossip Girl' girl Taylor Momsen adds another string
to her bow and demonstrates an innate understanding of
the inner-workings of edgy urban pop-rock with a punky
twist. This tight little NYC quartet have delivered a
vibrant and energising collection of ten tracks all
of which stand up straight and strut their stuff with
cocky confidence and aplomb.
Ms Momsen has a cracking voice. She slithers and snarls
and growls like she's been doing it all her life. She can
also sing in tune and the varied dynamics of her diction
and canny grasp of light and shade are a joy to hear!
Bandmates Ben Phillips lead guitar/vocals, Mark Damon/bass
and Jamie Perkins/drums cook up a storm around her.
There's not a duff song in the bunch. Particular favorites
so-far include the raucous slipping and sliding melody and
big, brash beats of 'Miss Nothing'; the stripped-down rough
and ready elegance of 'Light Me Up' (a composition not unlike
the best of Ms Morissette circa 'Jagged Little Pill'); the
consummately constructed and emotionally convincing 'Nothing Left
To Lose' which finds Ms Momsen at her absolute best singing a song
as good as any other I've heard this year and the simple (and simply
beautiful) gentle string-enhanced conclusion provided by 'You'.
Let's be clear The Pretty Reckless are the greyhound's gonads!
If 'Light Me Up' doesn't take them to the front of the queue
it could only be because the world wasn't ready or didn't get
the chance to listen. I love it to bits!!
Essential.

Kylie Minogue
It transports you to the dance floor!!!!, 2010-09-01 I just wanna say that if you are a Kylie's fan or you just like Pop/Dance music this album is a MUST.
You will enjoy every song from the begining 'til the end, starting with the amazing All the lovers and going through Outta my way, Closer, Better than Today, Aphrodite, Cupid boy and Can't beat the feeling (Those songs are the ones I like the most)
I do not particularly like Illusion and Looking for an angel but they do not take this album down.
The DVD is a good aditional but it could be better since it includes the Making of "All the lovers" but no the video.
The videos from the American tour are good but they are a mix from previous performances. It would be better to have "Better than Today" performance which is obviously more related to this album.
Anyway, the whole package is great, the packaging, the songs, the DVD and that is why I am giving it 5 starts.
I can wait for the Aphrodite's tour!!!
Kylie, you did it again, you R O C K!

Various Artists
Perfect chill-out selection, 2010-08-30 60 tracks that all bring back some very mellow memories. Classics from all corners of the R&B/soul spectrum; on the one hand we have Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross and Gladys Knight - on the other we have Maxwell, R.Kelly, Usher and Toni Braxton. And as if that wasn't enough, there are the "new kids" represented by Jason Derulo, McLean, JLS and Leona Lewis. A very good value, well thought-out collection. Highly recommended.

The National
Very High Violet, 2010-08-14 I'm probably one of the many people whom has only recently discovered The National, but this album has blown me away on a number of levels - the high quality of the songwriting, the overall production and as another reviewer has said, the ability to 'tingle arms'.
'England' was the first track which I heard from this album. It's the reason I watched them at Glastonbury, but at no point was I expecting to come away from that afternoon set a converted fan. As it is, I rushed out to purchase the limited purple double-vinyl set and have since purchased it also on CD for the car.
The first time I listened to it, I still wasn't sure; the first 4 or 5 songs didn't grab me like I thought they would but then 'Bloodbuzz Ohio' kicks in and it all seems to start making sense. Tracks 7 to 10 are incredible. I still love 'England', with the almost-perfect line 'You must be somewhere in London, you must be loving your life in the rain'. 'Lemonworld' isn't a songtitle which would have you running for the 'play' button, but believe me when I tell you that it's an amazing track. It's the kind of song which makes me want to fly to America, hire a convertible and drive across from Florida to California, listening to this song on the CD player. 'Conversation 16' is similarly stunning - I simply love the line "Now we'll leave the silver city 'cause all the silver girls gave us black dreams".
If this album doesn't appear in countless "albums of the year" at the end of 2010, then something's seriously wrong. 2010 has surprised (and surpassed) my expectations. After serious disappointment earlier in the year from the likes of Ellie Goulding's and Marina & The Diamonds' albums, 2010 has seen some seriously good releases - the Domino State's debut album 'Uneasy Lies The Crown', Serena-Maneesh's 'Abyss In B Minor', Exit Calm's eponymous debut - and now this.
This album is a fantastic listen. Definitely Recommended.

Scissor Sisters
Great album, 2010-08-23 This is my current favourite album of 2010, not a bad song on it! Prior to this album I wasn't a massive scissor sisters fan, they were alright, but this is a very good album. I've listened to it quite a few times now and I'm still not bored of it and still don't skip any songs. Well worth a listen!
