"Let the Games Begin ... Halloween ... Chip Davis & Mannheim Steamroller (2003)", 2007-10-26 My offspring's love Christmas and Halloween ~ so Chip Davis had to satisfy my entire family with this latest release "Halloween", featuring the deranged arrangements by Chip and performed by the world famous Mannheim Steamroller gang --- If you're a fan this is a must have with various composers on hand J.S. Bach, Dukas, Gounod, Greig, Mussorgsky, Wagner and even Marius Constant who composed the theme song for the "Twilight Zone" --- plus a few ditties from Chip with his trademark style we've come to recognize with open arms.
Chip has his pulse on the macabre and the unusual with some surprises thrown in --- Feel the original composers would welcome the interpretations on various sonatas, fugues and counter melodies that take the listener into another realm of musical fantasy --- Composer Henry Mancini always made a point to give other musicians credit and appreciation for their approach to his classic standards of film music --- same goes for Berlin, Carmichael, Ellington, Gershwin, Kern and Porter as different genres of Rock, R&B, Jazz, Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Easy Listening and --- yes even Classical tells their side of the story --- So what is all the hullabaloo about? --- This is what makes entertainment entertaining and Chip knows just what button to push.
With disc one we have "RITE OF TWILIGHT", featuring a multitalented arrangement that blends hints of Rod Serling standing by to give you an intro to the episode you're about to watch --- Davis performance engulfs an eerie and not of this world signature --- nice touch of "CRYSTAL", from the graveyard of Fresh Aire IV and fills the ghoulish bill --- Entire cues on this disc spells Chip had a ball with this material.
Second disc with all the spooky, terror and horror sounds signal heart palpitations --- As one reviewer remarked ~ EFX CD placed into your player and hit shuffle --- To that my reaction is let the games begin, as chills begin to surface.
Hats off to American Gramaphone, Mannheim Steamroller and Chip Davis for digging into your bag of tricks and coming up with this delectable treat --- gotta say Boo and you'll love it!
Total: 2-CD-Set ~ Amer Gramaphone 1031 ~ (9/23/2003)

A brilliant, original album for kids, 2007-10-11 I bought this album for my kids last year and they liked it so much they only stopped playing it a few months ago! As well as imaginative interpretations of Halloween classics like 'Monster Mash' and 'Ghostbusters' sung by witches and ghouls, the album also features two fantastic original compositions called 'Spooky Boogie' and 'Hello Halloween', which my kids absolutely love. To top it all off there's a scary story and 20 minutes of spooky sound effects, which are great as background atmosphere for party games. Brilliant value!

Quality rock orchestra, 2003-10-23 This is an excellent horror themed rock/classical crossover. Tubukar Hell is my favorite track, a twisted mix of tubular bells, Dies Irae and The Hall of Mountain King. Well worth checking out.

Dinner with Drac, 2006-11-19 Mainly a collection of vintage rock'n'roll which Ace specialize in but this is a sub genre which had its roots in such as Screammin' Jay Hawkins and John Zacherle-whose Dinner With Drac is on one of the Golden Age series.
The real classic here is Bobby Boris Pickett's Monster Mash and the CD starts off with an airshot of Pickett's speaking voice. It topped the charts in 1962 and finally made it to the U K in 1974.
Informative sleeve notes tell you who all these mostly failed recording artists were and the title is brilliant

Music for the Monsters - Scary Music, 2004-03-09 There's always a need for "monster music" compilation, especially when the tracks are compiled from the greatest horror fantasy movies ever made. In the nutshell, that's the rise and fall of this CD.There are included some of the most famous horror themes like Tubular Bells from the Exorcist, the unforgettable Ghostbusters theme, and so on. But on the other hand - or should I say "on the Other Side" - there are themes from notoriously poor flicks as well. The movies like The attack of the Killer Tomatoes and The Haunting shouldn't even be mentioned amongst the classic motion pictures. And where are the classic themes from movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th? They should be definitely included instead of B-class scores. As such this compilation is far too scattered to work properly. Still, this CD has its uses. If you're a fan of Danny Elfman's music (like me) and you don't want to buy the whole soundtracks, this compilation will serve you well.
