Amazon.co.uk Review With commercially successful singles "Quicksand" and "In For The Kill" (latterly remixed by dubstep luminary Skream), red-headed, pale-skinned Brixton girl Elly Jackson and her "invisible" co-producer Ben Langmaid irrevocably established their love of 80s pop. This debut album continues the duo’s foray into euphoric retro-dance, nodding non-ironically to the likes of The Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Heaven 17 and The Human League while remaining impressively contemporary. Opening with a string of sassy tunes--the buzzing "Tigerlily", the synth-heavy "Quicksand" and the slick and fiery "Bulletproof"--it’s apparent that La Roux have colour, class and confidence in spades. The album tapers off a little during the second half--failed experiments like "Cover My Eyes" which features the London Community Gospel Choir don't help--but it still boasts way more in the shape of dynamic killers than sappy fillers. First class. --Danny McKenna

la roux, 2010-04-26 bought on the strengh of the two singles taken from it and was'nt disapointed
has an 80's style of electro pop music about it - recommended
Catch Like A Virus, 2010-03-08 This album should carry a Health Warning. Truly the musical equivalent of Measles, infectious, an itch you cannot scratch. I hated this album when i first heard it. I am, after all, a dedicated Heavy Metal fan... this electronic rubbish was not to be to my taste. 48 hours later i was sat in a friends car when i heard La Roux again. I have probably never had a greater musical epiphany. Elly Jackson has one of the best voices of this decade and La Roux have produced one of the most intelligent 'pop' records of this genre. Instant classics like 'In For the Kill' and 'Bulletproof' are immediate in their impact and infectiousness but the true depth of La Roux is hidden in gems such as 'Colourless Colour'. Dismiss at your peril... you really would miss out on the freshest and most intelligent pop albums of all time. Catch the bug now! Now... how do i disguise this amidst my Maiden albums..
Powerful and catchy alternative album., 2010-04-24 This is is really for anyone who is tired of listening to the same sort of music year in and year out. We've heard a thousand Pixie Lott's but La Roux's don't come around so often. Not only that but her music doesn't alienate you like a lot of other stuff. I'm a casual listener and I really enjoyed listening through the whole album.
Very much worth it. Buy it now.... now!
SUE'S VIEW, 2010-03-09 I BOUGHT THE ALBUM AS A PRESENT FOR MY HUSBAND. WE HEARD HER DO A RADIO PROGRAMME WITH HEAVEN 17 AND THOUGHT SHE WAS REALLY GOOD. WE HAD ONLY HEARD HER RELEASED SINGLES ON THE RADIO BEFORE THEN. THE ALBUM IS MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. I PUT IT ON MY IPOD AND LISTEN TO IT ALL THE TIME; MY HUSBAND PLAYS THE ALBUM IN THE CAR ON HIS WAY TO AND FROM WORK. THE SONGS ARE GREAT AND REALLY SEEM TO GET BETTER THE MORE YOU LISTEN TO THEM. SHE IS A REAL TALENT. IF YOU ARE NOT YET A FAN, DEFINATELY WORTH TAKING A CHANCE ON.
great cd, 2010-04-14 i absolutely loved the cd. I heard the 2 singles and didn't like them so much at first but they grew on me and so i bought the album. fast delivery and highly recommend
