Breath of fresh air!, 2010-01-10
I LOVE this! It's so refreshingly different. I was wading through the Christmas CD search on Amazon, looking for something different to the usual volume of banal cliched and well-worn droning that gets reeled out every year (you know, supermarket music from September onwards).
Forget the word 'Jazz'. Because I hate jazz. I don't do jazz. What I do like is taking the old favourites and stirring them up in a kind of fat boy slim way until you get something a lot more modern, funky and stylish than the same old tat.
I took a risk with this, and it paid off.
I just wish there were enough originals in the first place for a fresh one of these CDs to be produced every year!
Tinsel Jazz Mix Tails Off A Trifle, 2009-12-07
This album does everything you want it to do - for the first six or so tracks. Thereafter it just seems to run out of a little bit of sparkle. That doesn't mean I don't really like it, but, had it maintained its initial brilliance, I would be gleefully getting copies for all my music-loving friends. Buy without very much hesitation.
Not as Christmassy as I had hoped, 2010-02-15
To be honest, this is just ok. The choice of songs aren't the best, nor are the remixes, especially compared to some of the other Verve/Remixed albums. It's alright, doesn't make it to the essential Christmas album list, but provides a welcome change from the usual festive favourites that appear around the yule.
