Gorgeous classic Rammstein, 2008-01-14 Possibly the best packaged album I own, this is another fine album by Germany's finest. Still the recognisable Rammstein style with many variations in tempo and power in here and remarkably easy to get into. Perhaps not as powerful and consistent as Mutter, I still give this 5 stars as under the Amazon star system it deserves them because I LOVE this album.
fantastiche, 2010-07-09 This was the first Rammstein Album I heard (I've got them all now) and it's awesome. Hilf Mir, Spring, Wo bist du and the one with that girl from the band "Texas" on it are outstanding.
I find the fact that some think that this is their worst Album unbelievable. The music has always sounded good but there arn't many quality "Songs" on the first Album and I dont really think the singer found his true style until "Muttah" Since then he has just got better and better.
I dont know if it's just the novelty factor of the gutteral German Launguage but the vocals can make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. The Last bit of Hilf mir with the piano is brilliant.
The only trouble is if this is your first Rammstien purchase it'll cost you a fortune because like me, you'll end up buying all their other stuff as well.
Leftovers from Reise, Reise?! Pfft!!, 2010-01-19 I had to write something on this album just because it's had such a bad press! I have to admit it was with some trepidation that I purchased this album and it was the next to last of Rammstein's because I had read such awful reviews of it. But after listening to it I'm in shock that it could have had a single bad review, it has so many beautiful and exquisite songs on it - maybe that's why, some Rammstein fans want every track to be a headbanger like 'Mein Herz Brennt' or 'Feuer Frei'?! Personally whilst I love those tracks, I love to see a variation in styles, I like to hear and be surprised by what a band can achieve and this album really doesn't disappoint! I'm really not a fan of Reise, Reise but I love Rosenrot so no way would I ever consider it leftovers from that! For me this album along with Mutter and Sehnsucht is my favourite Rammstein. (And dare I say it for fear of being lynched, that 'Stirb Nicht Vor Mir' doesn't offend my ears either!)
Wunderbar! Rammstein return to their rock roots, 2007-10-06 This album is the follow of from "Reise Reise", which had seen the band try new things and experiment with new sounds. Clearly Rammstein have returned to their vintage material with this album, and the opening track "Benzin" will really get your head bobbing, as will "Mann Gegen Mann" and "Zestoren". Some tracks are slightly more haunting than hammering, and the track "Spring" is genuinely ghostly, as is the duet with Sharlene Spitelli of Texas "Stirb Nicht Vor Mir". Perhaps the best track on the album is "Te Quiero Puta", where the band sing in Spanish in a truly explosive track, that is made even more powerful by being mixed with rasping Mexican mariachi trumpet blasts, and this fusion of electric guitar and powerful, angry trumpet blasts is a delight. This singing in languages other than German is the only real habit the band have taken from their "Reise Reise" album into this one and crucially, has not be overdone. There are not bad tracks as such, but I felt "Ein Lied" was a bit tame, as was the title track "Rosenrot". Nevertheless, hard core Rammstein fans will love this album.
Rosenrot oooooooh Rosenrot, 2007-10-24 I don't usually review albums when so many people, (16 to date including me), have already reviewed but Rosenrot deserves 5 stars in my opinion. Putting the music to one side for a moment, what fantastic art work. This digipac multi gatefold disc is a delight to own. ( If you like it check out Volkeball and Richard Kruspe's Emigrate)
Rammstein have continued to improve in two significant areas for me. Firstly the drums and percussion department is now amongst the best that any metal band has to offer, including the likes of Slayer and ,dare I say it, Led Zeppelin. Secondly they seem to have dispenced with the computer generated 'canned' synthetic effects and replaced it with 'real' strings and choirs etc and it works....better.
The album contains five classic Rammstein tracks ( as good as anything they've written) Benzin, Mann Gegen Mann, Spring, Wo Bist Du and Hilf Mir. The weakest tracks are Stirb Nicht Vor Mir and Ein Lied but I still rate these each with 8/10.
This is not their best album. I reserve that for Mutter with a resounding 6 stars but Rosenrot deserves its 5 star status. Can't wait for the next one!
