Amazon.co.uk Review Michael Jackson's Thriller is the bestselling album of all time, with 45 million worldwide sales powered by eight Grammy Awards. The 1982 album was also a success from which the pop superstar never really recovered--subsequent albums seemed to have no other goal than to beat the records set by Thriller. The highly- polished sound of Quincy Jones's production sounds almost organic compared to Jackson's more recent work, and in the same regard, Thriller was significantly slicker than its predecessor, Off the Wall. Both albums established a Jackson style that aimed for the dance floor with songs built on a state-of-the-art bed of percussion and keyboards. Elements of milestone Thriller tracks like "Billie Jean" (arguably Jackson's best-ever performance) and "Beat It" (with its hard- rock solo by guitarist Eddie Van Halen) influenced not just Jackson's records, but those of the entire dance-pop world. On the song "Thriller", Jackson indulged his taste for the juvenile and invited Vincent Price to rap in a really scary voice. With Thriller the album, Jackson created a different kind of monster--a hit album of such magnitude that it would have an irrevocable impact not just on the singer's art, but on his altogether kooky life. --John Milward

Just really stunning - everybody should own this., 2010-02-14 Jackson is just stunning on this record. The versatility and beauty of his voice is outstanding, particularly on 'Lady of my Life' and 'Human Nature'. When people describe records as "classic" they are mostly wrong. But THRILLER really is a true classic.
What a tragically early death for MJ.
MICHAEL JACKSON AT HIS BEST, 2010-01-13 This is a fantastic album Michael Jackson at his best. Bought this album years ago when it first came out but it was on a record album....since Michael died i decided to buy all his stuff on disc. This album is still as good as it was all those years ago...BRILLIANT!!
Thriller, 2010-05-09 I purchased 'Thriller' for my son who is a Jackson nut. I myself was never that much into the music and the hype/myth whatever behind this complex and troubled character didn't help either. I was always more of a Dylan/Neil Young guy, but I was immediatley impressed by the tremendous power and range to the voice, as well as the quality of the musicianship and Quincey Jones production. Best moment for me was EVH's killer solo on beat it. My 2 year old daughter always shouts for 'the door' (the sound of the coffin opening at the beginning of thriller) so yeah, you could say something for all the family!! Pleasantly surprised, although I don't intend to make a habit of buying MJ albums, amazon!!
Check it out if you like funk, danceable grooves, killer guitar (although economically used) and high register vocals.
first class timeless music, 2010-01-19 how can anyone not like michael jackson?have this album on vinyl, thought it was time to upgrade, even my grandchildren love it,billie jean is the business, superb.
Three Classic Songs Plus Other Average Songs!, 2010-08-01 I've listened to this album through many times and still I cannot understand why this has sold so many copies. There's of course the title track, Billie Jean, and Beat It. But the rest of the material are just average material.
