An album for everyone, 2003-05-26 I think that without doubt that Undertow is by far the best album that Tool has ever brought out. There are some heavier tracks, followed by very melodic tracks in between. And there isn't one track that i dislike. I've liked Tool for more than 4 years now, and have purchased every album, and they just seem to be getting better and better i think that this one sum's up what Tool are all about.
swampy, 2006-12-22 This was the first tool album i heard/bought, and I still recommend it as the best place to start for potential tool fans. To be honest, I've only heard one song from Opiate, so I can't compare the two, but the artwork for Opiate puts me off investigating further. Anyway, listening to this 10+ years later, it still holds up as a rawer, rockier offering from a talented band. Swamp Song, Prison Sex, Intolerance and Undertow are classics, but the whole album deserves, as usual, to be played in it's entirety. And seeing Swamp Song performed at London Wembley Arena last month was worth the admission alone.
A postive start to a new direction!, 2003-05-14 Tool's first album 'Opiate' was a relativly normal album for them. They were considered to be another seattle runge band type. But with this album they changed the direction of music and opened a new gateway for creativity. Here they expressed themselfs and created a sound no-one had heard. This was the beginning of there brilliance before 'Anema' and 'Lateralus' were created. This album with songs like prison sex, sober, and undertow were the combination of rock and a deep melodical sound. Tool are a revoltionary band, you either love them, or hate them. i personally love them. There artistic views of the band and the way they create an affective combination of melodies or rock and melow, u have to wonder where they get the inspiration from? are they even from the same planet? indeed i recommend this album to anyone who like 'Anema' or loves Tool. If u havnt heard Tool give them a try! or u'd be seriously missing out!
Disposable, 2010-06-14 Well, lets put it in simples words:
1- I love Tool.
2- Tool my favourite band.
3- Don't have this album
4- I thank giftdvds for wasting my time and money..... never buy things from them..
5- Keep rocking: music is the only thing that lasts forever.
The old future of progressive metal, 2003-06-02 This was the first tool album I owned. At first I thought it was "good", but after you really listen to it you realise what a true masterpiece it really is. The whole album grows with you, each track compliments the others on the album. Melancholy lyrics combine with churning guitars, tight baselines and solid drum rhythm. I've heard this album referred to as progressive metal. It truely is. No bands from the nu-metal fold ome even close to the dark majecty that is tool. Listen to this album as a whole.
