A Storming Debut Album with Several Classic Tracks, 2010-01-12 There is a suitable time or place to listen to any music and this CD deserves to be appreciated at high volume when your senses are fully awake (or perhaps need awakening) !
'Lady Gaga' is a clearly talented singer/performer (I've seen TV broadcasts of her live at Glastonbury to know that to be true - she wears outlandish costumes, 'dances', plays instruments as well as composing the majority of her material) and there is a good range of songs on offer on this album to enjoy her vocal quality and musical 'energy' to it's best.
Things get off to a great start with the powerful 'Let's Dance' and it's pretty much full-throttle from then on; my favourites are 'Poker Face' on the album and 'Paparazzi' performed live. It's not just her voice that helps to make these songs so enjoyable of course, the largely synthesised supporting music is also excellent and of a style unusual/defined enough to prevent the tracks becoming unforgettable or difficult to distinguish from other modern music.
The reproduction quality of this CD is excellent and there's nearly an hour of music to enjoy; the UK-edition I own has 16 tracks and some good online bonus content (an extra track, downloadable videos and wallpaper images) but I found the live video offered was unavailable for download - although it is available 'elsewhere'...
Even the CD packaging is a classy-affair, with a chunky/'curvy' jewel case and an informative booklet including plenty of photos of the 'Lady' herself.
I am too old to be in disco's or nightclubs where Lady Gaga tracks might be played, but I can imagine how good the experience might be; playing this album loud on my home hi-fi is a good substitute !

Disapponting, considering the POTENTIAL., 2010-03-14 First of all, I LOVE Bad Romance and Gaga a lot. Bad Romance is The song of 2009 (after Freemasons feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Heartbreak (Make me a dancer)).
However, this remix single is pathetic. First of all, the only fairly good remixes are those of 'Chew Fu' and 'Bimbo Jones', but as the latter is only an edit, this CD really doesn't have much to offer. This is also the first time I've been a bit let down by Kaskade's remixing.
As usual, Interscope/Cherrytree has left the first remix single without the best remixes (from 'Dave Audé' and 'DJ Dan') and without the full lenght club mixes. And we all know what capacity CD's are capable of, so being "just a single" isn't really a good excuse to include no more than just the radio edits.
Also, where are the acapella and instrumental versions? Bad Romance being Gaga's most vocal single since Paparazzi, I really don't understand the label's logic (there isn't any) with their single releases.
I only hope that the label will go "Lovegame" again with this one, and release a sort of 'part 2' remix CD-single sometime in the near future with Dave Audé's and DJ Dan's mixes (CLUB MIXES that is), as this remix single is sadly not on the same level as the original version of Bad Romance.

No one can accuse a singer who titles her first solo record The Fame of hiding her motives, and as an exercise designed to make a pop star out of the woman previously known as Stefani Joanne Germanotta, it succeeds perfectly. There is plenty more to Germanotta than the super-stylised, cosmetically reworked face she presents to the world. For all the Paris Hilton-esque bimbo role-playing, Lady GaGa is a product of New York’s knowing downtown art/dance scene. So it’s no surprise to find that The Fame is a witty take on contemporary pop values, at times cruelly sarcastic ("Paparazzi" blatantly flirts with the same snappers who drove Britney ove...

Well worth the extra few quid, 2009-12-16 There's one thing I'd like to make clear about this release to start off my review. This is not an album re-release, this is by all means a brand new studio album that happens to be packaged with GaGa's multi-million debut release 'The Fame'.
As a big fan of 'The Fame' I wasn't so sure of GaGa's ability to top the album, to create one of similar quality in the future, and never expected one so soon after her first release. At just 8 tracks it may seem thin on value at first but it is more than meets the eye. By having just 8 tracks it bulldozes those 3 or 4 'average' skippable songs usually found on any album and gives 8 bold, fresh songs so that the listener never has to even consider pressing the skip button. Lead single 'Bad Romance' is insane, bonkers and yet wildly beautiful as is it's video. 'Dance In The Dark' and 'Monster' are similar (yet worlds apart) to 'Bad Romance' and 'Speechless' pulls down the tempo to a track similar to 'Brown Eyes' off her debut. Gaga's vocal ability is always questioned by some yet it's on tracks like this that showcase just how fine a singer she really is. 'Teeth' is amazingly insane, a thumping track that KT Tunstall wishes she could pull off with such artistry and vision. 'So Happy I Could Die' is a grower, what starts off as a substandard club track soon becomes so much more, and is currently my favourite song on this set. 'Telephone' featuring Beyonce is another club track, it's catchy and addictive and though unsure at first, Beyonce's part on the track fits perfectly. This is rumoured to be single #2 and if it is then I can not wait to see the video! If anything the strength of this new disc highlights just how weak it sounds against her debut album. Don't get me wrong, 'The Fame' is a fantastic collection of pop hits, but compared to this new 8-track album, it struggles to hold it's weight. How she will top this with her new album I'll never know, but I'm dying to see!
But the main reason I'm posting this review is to comment on this version, the 'international digipack edition'. I had been 'umm-ing' and 'ahhh-ing' other whether or not to buy this version for a few weeks now, even holding out on buying the album full stop until this version came down in price. But I gave in and bought this edition and I'm so happy that I did! I love collecting music (CD's are not dead!) and in a world where most would rather collect a folder of invisible 'files', it's always great to buy a deluxe edition of a CD. The second disc, as well as featuring 'The Fame' also has 'Retro Dance Freak', a track that was as far as I know, previously only released as a bonus track in Japan. It's not the best song on the album, but it is cute and to anyone that collects GaGa it is of course a must have. The digipack is pretty, I prefer this brunette cover to the blonde one and the photos on the panels inside are lovely as is the booklet (which is the same as the standard version) that features all the lyrics for both the albums. Gold printing features on the cover of the digipack and it really is lovely, looks great on my shelf and sounds amazing blasting out of my stereo!

GAGA, 2010-02-22 This record follows on from Poker Face as one of Lady Gaga's brilliant songs. The tune stays in your head for ages and you find yourself singing along with the record. Brilliant, weird lyrics and great tune.

Amazing,, 2010-03-12 This song is amazing, Gaga shows her true musical genius in this song. If not through the funky yet melodic tune of the overall song, then through her intriqing and unique voice. Featuring Beyonce on this song was one of the best ideas ever, a song that combines two amazing, talented voices. Two of the biggest divas of the decade on one song, it cannot fail!
